U.S. Senate Candidate Mike Lee Voices Support for Senator Hatch's Balanced Budget Amendment

July 26, 2010

July 23, 2010 – Alpine, Utah   “The time has come for Congress to do the right thing and pass a balanced budget amendment,” said Republican Senate Nominee, Mike Lee who applauded Utah Senator Orrin Hatch for initiating, once again, a constitutional amendment requiring Congress to submit a balance budget.

In his own release following the introduction of the amendment Senator Hatch declared, "My resolution will help bring fiscal sobriety to a Congress that has been on a spending binge the likes of which our country has never seen and can no longer afford."

Patriots Defined by Their Actions

July 4, 2010

On this 4th of July weekend I was impressed by the words of Nobel Peace Price winner Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor.  Wiesel declared, “The opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference.  The opposite of art is not ugliness, it’s indifference.  The opposite of faith is not heresy, it’s indifference.  And the opposite of life is not death, it’s indifference.   Joseph Cramer, professor of pediatrics at the University of Utah, added to Wiesel’s list in a Deseret News article saying, “The opposite of patriotism is not treason, it is indifference.

It is true that much of our suffering as a nation has been self-inflicted and that the current state of our country and economy is due, at least in part, to indifference.  For too long we have comfortably drifted into a state of indifference where what government did didn’t matter and what happened down the street or across the country was of little concern.  But 2010 has proven to be a year of awakening in which indifference has given way to love, beauty, faith, life and true patriotism.

Mike Lee wins the primary! Thank you for your support!

June 23, 2010

Your contributions and volunteer efforts in securing the nomination for Mike as well as our message of Constitutionally Limited Government and Principled Representation have been truly astounding.

Throughout Utah, thousands of grassroots volunteers made phone calls, stood on street corners and even knocked on doors to get out the vote. Without that outpouring of energy and your continued support throughout the election, last night would have ended differently.

victoryuWe are humbled and greatly appreciative of your support.

We would like to thank Mr. Tim Bridgewater and all of his supporters for running an honorable campaign, voicing a strong message to help us bring principled change to our country. We look forward to working with Mr. Bridgewater, his staff and his supporters as we take Utah's message to D.C.

Take Back Utah Organization Backs Mike Lee for U.S. Senate

June 19, 2010

Official Endorsement

SANDY, UTAH - June 19, 2010 - Take Back Utah (TBU), an active organization in the effort to gain more local control of public land and restore common sense to public land management, has approved a measure to officially endorse Mike Lee in his run for the U.S. Senate.

"This decision came with serious discussion and thought," said Michael Swenson TBU co-founder and current board member. Swenson went on to say, "We have met with both Republican candidates and the decision was not easy; but after much discussion we are firmly of the belief that of the two candidates Mike Lee is best equipped to address the serious issues facing public land management in Utah."
